How does CRFT Lookup's technology detection work?

CRFT Lookup uses a community-maintained fork of Wappalyzer's detection engine to identify technologies. When you input a URL, we analyze the site's HTML, JavaScript variables, response headers, and other indicators against a database of over 2,500 technology fingerprints to accurately identify frameworks, CMS platforms, analytics tools, and infrastructure technologies.

How accurate is the technology detection?

Our technology detection is highly reliable as it's built on Wappalyzer's battle-tested detection engine. We use multiple detection methods including HTML pattern matching, JavaScript variable analysis, and header inspection to ensure accuracy. While no detection system is perfect due to obfuscation and custom implementations, our multi-layered approach maintains high accuracy rates.

What types of technologies can be detected?

CRFT Lookup can identify a wide range of web technologies including frontend frameworks (React, Vue, Angular), backend technologies (Node.js, PHP, Ruby), CMS platforms (WordPress, Shopify), analytics tools (Google Analytics, Hotjar), marketing tools (Facebook Pixel, Google Ads), hosting providers, security solutions, and much more.

Is the detection process real-time?

Yes, we perform live scans using a headless browser instance for each URL submitted. This ensures you get current, accurate results reflecting the latest version of the site and its technologies. The entire scan typically completes in under 30 seconds.

How often is the technology database updated?

Our technology fingerprint database is continuously updated through our connection with the open source community. As new technologies emerge or existing ones evolve, our detection patterns are updated to maintain accuracy. This community-driven approach ensures we stay current with the latest web technologies.
